| | | | Blue Ribbon School During the 2001-2002 school year, we succeeded in becoming a Blue Ribbon School. The process required a great deal of effort and coordination by the entire staff. The hard work paid off when, after a rigorous visit by the National Review Panel, we were deemed worthy of the Blue Ribbon label.
Blue Ribbon Schools are models of both excellence and equity. They demonstrate a strong commitment to educational excellence for all students. In addition, Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence demonstrate sustained success in achieving these values. Museum Magnet School received notification from the U.S. Department of Education that our school has been selected for a site visit as part of the 1999-2000 Blue Ribbon Schools Program. Only 199 of 377 schools, or 53 percent, that applied for the Blue Ribbon School of Excellence recognition were recommended for site visits. The National Review Panel judged our school, based on our nomination package, to be within the range of schools that should receive a site visit.
Across the country only 3% of all US schools have earned a National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence Award.
