Seventeen (17) children are enrolled in each Community Kindergarten class with a licensed teacher and an assistant.
CLASS TIME
Children
are enrolled for a full school year, five half days a week, in the mornings or afternoons.
STAFF QUALIFICATIONS
Community Kindergarten teachers hold a current State of Minnesota Birth to Third
Grade teaching license. They have experience teaching four year-olds
from diverse language and cultural backgrounds. An assistant, who is
often bilingual, is assigned to each class.
CURRICULUM
Curriculum
and instruction is guided by the Principles of Learning used in Saint
Paul Public Schools, the Minnesota Early Childhood Indicators of
Progress and the National Center on Education and the Economy early
learning standards.
ASSESSMENT
Children's
performance and progress are documented using the Work Sampling System
of child assessment for continuity and follow-up in kindergarten and
later years.
TRANSPORTATION
School bus transportation is provided for enrolled children in most areas.
