Hello First Grade Families. 

  Welcome to our classroom web page!

First graders are working hard on improving their skills in an array of academic areas.  Students at Museum Magnet improve their reading skills by using a balanced literacy approach.  Small group instruction allows each individual student to read at their own level as they progress throughout the year. In addition to classroom instruction:  library visits, the Rise and Read, the Everybody Wins program and a leveled take home library round out the first grade reading experience.  As a teacher there is nothing more exciting than watching 6 and 7 year old students begin to master the skill of reading, a vital life long skill.   Reading is Good!!!!

A distinguishing characteristic of Museum Magnet is our two yearly exhibits. Please check out the exhibit link for more information.
 
Another main focus is math. Using the everyday math first graders a challenging, fun and hands on method to learn math everyday. There is a information on everyday math in the links section.
