The Language Arts Curriculum is a combination of the Scholastic Series
and Theme Related books, Writer's Workshop, all with a focus on
building literacy skills. This is a systematic, multilevel approach to
instruction which allows for children to be engaged in activities where
there are multiple things to learn as well as a variety of ways for the
learning to take place. Over the course of the year the children
learn letters and sounds, print and language concepts, phonemic
awareness. Most importantly the children learn that reading and writing
provides
enjoyment and information, and ultimately their desire and ability to
learn to read and write is enhanced.
Bi-weekly our class goes to our school library where each child checks out one library book for that week.
