Thanks for visiting the Museum Magnet Sixth Grade . This page has general information for the entire sixth grade. For specific information about a particular class, please use the link to that teacher.
The following curriculum are used in sixth grade:
- READING: We used the District's Balanced Literacy approach in reading. The adopted textbook is Spotlight on Literacy. Students received reading instruction based on their instructional reading level, independent reading level and sixth grade level. In addition, students received instruction in basic skills.
- MATH: EveryDay Mathematics meets the District's requirement for integrated mathematics.
- SCIENCE: Full Option Science System (FOSS)
- HEALTH: Current Health Magazine (The team opted to used this magazine because the adopted text is ten years old).
- SOCIAL STUDIES: Ancient Civilizations, daily newspaper, Risk Watch, Focus on the Future, Steps to Respect
- ART: Arts Attack (purchased with an EcoLab Grant), Art Adventure, presented by parent volunteer (Karen Shanahan), visit to Minneapolis Institute of Art
- WRITING: Writer's Workshop, basic skills, spelling, grammar
- Mixtures and Solutions (February) and Poetry Cafe (May)
